Why I Hate My Truck

February 3rd, 2009

Guys, it wasn’t always this ways, but more and more recently I am really starting to hate my truck. This time it broke at the gas station, so as well as not getting me home it caused me a whole lot of embarrassment as well! Because even though it wouldn’t start it also seemed that it was stuck in 3rd so it was reall hard to push. Had to get a couple of guys to help and although I thanked them for their effort and they said no problem – it was raining !!! …so thanks again to those guys!

I guess though it really is probably my own fault as I always try and do stuff on the cheap for two resons really. One is that I hate to pay a whole bunch of money to service centers where I always feel they are just ripping me off, and where in the past (but not at the exact same location!) I have been ripped off. And the second is that these days it is so damn expensive to get anything fixed.

Oh and I guess there is a third reason too and that is the fact that I have a friend who I trust who can fix most autos, including my truck on many occasions, and I prefer to let him look at it. Unfortunately he doesn’t always get it 100% right, but I do like and trust him and as before he came out and helped me at the gas station as soon as I called him. You can’t get service like that anywhere these days and for what he charges me it is a no-brainer!

However, it doesn’t mean my truck always will run the best and I guess it also means that now and gaian I have to suffer the consequences. But that doesn’t mean I have to love my truck all the time and as I already said there are times when I just downright hate it!

Car and trucks are just necessary these days and because I relly cannot afford to buy a new one right now I haev to rely on my old truck to get me around. Problem is I bought it back in the day when gas was so cheap and now I am suffering because it has 5.6 V8 and it is really starting to cost me just to travel to work. Bit of a dilemma I guess as I can’t afford a new one and can’t afford to run the one I have sounds crazy doesn’t it?

My friendly mechanic says just bite the bullet and get something that it is a whole lot better on gas. He reckons I should get something not brand new and way smaller because I really don’t need the power or size of my current vehicle. Guess what he says makes sense but actually going out and doing it is not something I am looking forward to. Slogging round car lots and trying to get a good deal is a process I really hate, but sooner or later I will have to get it done.

Hopefully sometime soon!
